Engine missing when towing?

Towing a new travel trailer with my 2018 Silverado 1500, 5.3, 6 speed auto, towing package, 60000 miles, trailer weighs about 5400lbs. It feels like the engine is missing or cutting out when accelerating from a stop but only in 2nd gear, any ideas?

Yes, this was the first time, we've towed our old trailer the past 2 years with no problems. Then we had driven 250 miles through a bad winter storm 2 days ago in auto 4wd  to pick up the new trailer. Then today after I posted the question, my wife texted me showing the dash showing the "Service 4WD" message. I'm feeling the two things are related...
