Hi, I own a 18 Silverado 5.3 with 85k on it, last week while driving I started to hear a loud ticking happen suddenly from under the hood. It’s audible at idle and increases with rpms. Also experience loss of power between 3rd and 4th gear unless I put the pedal half way to the floor. I’ve heard of lifter tick so I pulled the valve cover off and all of the rocker arms are moving nicely with no slack when motor is off. Oil pressure reads 40 at idle. Oil is still gold and at correct levels. It also doesn’t feel like there’s a misfire when it’s driven, in fact it feels 100% up until that wonky 3rd-4th gear range. No rpm flutter or surging. Wondering where to look next? I don’t want the dealership to empty my pockets in labor costs.

I'd be steering clear of any dealership with an '18 anyway. Your warranty is long gone now.

I'd be doing a compression test. Sounds like you've got some internal engine damage from here. 3rd and 4th gear are higher speeds, more wind resistance, so, more load. Sounds to me like the engine can't handle higher loads. More than likely some valve train issues, but could also be lower end issues as well. All depends on the frequency of the "tick". These trucks are so hit-and-miss with quality anything is possible.
