XM antenna replacement

My original satellite, or shark fin antenna was leaking by the sun visor on my 2014 Sierra, so I got a new one. The new antenna has an extra wire with a gold plug. The original did not have that. Anyway, I plug in the purple connector and tried the radio. It says "Check XM antenna" now. Any help would be appreciated.

You got the wrong antenna. The purple connector is for FM radio. The gold one is for XM

Are you sure about purple connector? On my 2016, I have a sharkfin and also an FM antenna on right fender. I don't believe the sharkfin has anything to do with my FM.

Depends on the vehicle. I was thinking of my wife's Terrain. I forgot but the purple one is maybe for Onstar and GPS. I do know that on my Sierra and the Terrain the gold connector is for XM.

I was looking for the upgraded version with the drain hole in the front, but after talking to 3 different dealerships, apparently all they have is the same ole leaky one with the hole in the back. Guess I'll get that one and rtv it. The original one only has 2 wires with the purple plug and that's for XM, Nav, and Onstar.
