Who has satellite radio and is it worth the monthly fees.

I have it in my wifes 2003 Lesabre and we both really enjoy it. The only time it cuts out is in parking garages and in the garage at the house. We both feel it is worth the money. There are channels on XM that play commercials and it kind of pisses me off. Although, I think they might be advertising themselves, but then agian, why advertise for yourself on your own channel? I digress, I like it and think its pretty inexpensive to use unless you like your local channels better for morning shows and things like that. (yes you still get local channels on your normal radio) I am in Houston and love to listen to Rock101 for about 4 hours in the morning, so I do not have XM in my new Tahoe. The radio is XM ready, but I need to buy some additional equipment.

 

With all that babbled, yeh it's pretty good especially if you do alot of traveling. They range from talk shows to comedy to all kinds of music.

I think its great. I would like it even better at $5 a month thou. While there is a lot of variety, I don't get a lot of time to listen to it. I would say get the kind that can be used in the house and car both so you can get more use from it. I like the 70's and 80's channels, and also Hanks place and the comedy channels. it beats the heck out of normal radio and the best part is you can browse the channels and tell which artist & song is playing before you even change to that channel.

 

BTW i have the Delphi unit.

I got factory XM radio, and I tell you I dont know how I ever lived without it. Very worth the 10$ per month. Better than buying a cd every month.

 

When I replace my factory stereo i am going to make sure I can get the xm ready stereo to replace it and get it working. To keep XM going! well worth the money.

I personally prefer Sirius since ALL of their channels are commercial free. The new portable boxes are pretty slick -- they can stay in the vehicle, or move to home/office. Also, Sirius just signed on with NFL, if football interests you. Seems like Sirius is getting really aggressive at locking in good programming.

 

As others have said, Satellite radio is awesome regardless of the provider.

I have XM in my house, and the truck....it's a must for those long multi-state road trips. You can't beat the comedy channel 150 either...funny stuff

Get satellite! Local radio anywhere pretty much sucks. Round here youd be hard pressed to find ANY station playing music. Who wants to hear people talk all morning and on the way home from work?? I sure dont!

It came with our 04 Silverado and I liked it so much I got the Delphi portable unit for the van, a home kit and the boom box for work.

 

It's great!!

I have the factory XM in my truck - I love it - after 8 months I'm having a hard time being without it in the house - so it may be time for a second receiver. Worth more than $10 a month just to not have to listen to useless radio DJ's in the mornings. Although with XM you get a few of them on some channels as well - but I don't usually listen to those stations. The variety and never losing a station on a trip - always having your favorites are well worth it.

XM rocks! Our Surburban came with the XM and it prompted me to install it into my Escalade over the holidays. The only issue I have is that the FM modulated setup that I have in the Escalade is not as crisp as the XM ready tuners. Why is that?
