CD Changer Add-On

I have on its way a 10 Disc CD Changer (Sony CDX-454RF). Its an add-on unit with its own FM Modulator built in. I have the Base AM/FM stock head unit. My question is that I assume that I will run a feed from the changer to the Antenna input on the back of the head unit. Is this correct? If this is correct, does the feed from the cd changer just go inline to the antenna? ie: plug the changer feed into the radio then plug the orig antenna lead into the changer feed there at the back of the radio?

I have heard that is a cake walk to pull the head unit out, take off the trim and then two levers will remove the head unit. Sound right?

Truck info is: 2003 Sierra, Reg Cab, Base Trim.

You are correct on how to install it.. and incase you didnt know you are going to have to have 2 antenna adapters....

can you tell me more about the two adapters that I will need and why, also where to buy them as I am figuring they will not come with the changer.

Advance Auto has the adapters, and most Walmarts etc will have them by there Stereo Equipment. Sometimes you can get both cables in the same box for around $15 bucks. You will need 1 each of mini to standard and standard to mini.

BTW, you didn't get em with the changer because GM is the oddball that refuses to conform with the other manufactures standard antenna plug.

This has always been a pet peeve of mine.

Thanks for the info. If GM STILL uses what I had on an older Lumina it is a tiny antenna plug vrs the standard larger plug on all the aftermarket head units...right?

If thats the case.....seems the old habits saying is still in force!

The adapters you speak of must convert the small port in the Head unit to accept the std from the Changer....then the other adapter converts the std from the changer to the small port to allow the antenna to plug back into it? Wow...thats a mouthfull!

Thanks Jones for answering his questions.. been a busy day around here.. I work in Car Audio so i figured id let you know about the antenna adapters before you got behind the radio. Hope the install goes well.. and if all else fails circuit city or bestbuy will have those adapters.. crutchfield also... model # 40gm10 and 40gm20

Thanks for all the info guys. Changer is on its way so I should have it tomorrow. Hope it fricking warms up here (-1 yesterday and 5 out right now) so that I can get into the garage to install it. Will post an update with some pics if possible.
