Today I selected 4wd to back up a hill, only needed to move a few feet. it worked, I then returned it to 2Hi, but when i got back in to leave it said "service 4wd" i didn't pay much attention to it until I went to turn and noticed it was still in 4wd. I tried all the switch positions and drove in a circle, tried reverse. Its still stuck. Any ideas on how to correct this? Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the site.

Sounds like your truck may have not had this TSB performed, just a guess.

There is a possibility that the encoder in the 4WD select motor (on the Transfer Case) has gone bad and has lost reference position
