2017 Denali Rear Axle Shaft

Hi, i’m trying to remove my driver side rear axle shaft and am running into problems, rear diff cover is off and big pin is out but can’t get the shaft to slide over to remove the clip. Have hit it considerably hard with a sledge hammer but hasn’t traveled far enough to take the clip off. am i missing something or do i just have to hit it harder

Try having someone push in on the axle while you remove the C clip

so the clip isn’t out far enough to take out, can move it around in the clips groove but the axle won’t push far enough in to expose that groove and get the clip

When I took mine out, I had to put the tire back on for extra leverage and my dad had to lean all his weight in on it to move it in enough to get the clip out.
