Has anyone removed the thickest leaf on their 1500 tow package leaf pack?

I want to lower the truck as I am CONSTANTLY loading my dirtbikes/mtb/gear into the bed.

The most I have tow is an open trailer with MAYBE 1500lbs total.

If it lowers it an inch that would be splendid and if the ride smooths out in the rear that's even better.

I'm wondering if I will need short U bolts as well

There is a 3/4-1" thick lift block between the spring and axle that raises the rear. You could take that out to lower it an inch. Cheapest option.

I don't see a problem removing the overload spring. 1500 lbs trailer isn't crazy heavy. You can reuse u-bolts if the threads aren't stretched or galled. But they are only $50

Belltech makes a shackle that lowers the rear 1-2-3" for $80. That's probably your easiest option

Yeah just remove the lift block and re-use the U-bolts. That's exactly what I did 4 years ago when I got my truck, I also installed drop shackles because I wanted it even lower and have had zero issues.
