Relocating/Adding New USB Data/Infotainment Ports

I'm trying to avoid the cords running from the factory USB location up to my phone mount at the top of my dash when charging my phone or connecting to Android auto. My plan is to modify my bulletpoint mount, similar to the attached photo, except I want to have the outlet be capable of connecting my phone to Android Auto/Apple Car Play so I need to have a data connection. The closest thing I found was someone saying they were able to hide a Carlink wireless AA/CP adapter immediately behind the factory location, but they indicated they tried extending the cable and relocating it without success. Does anybody have any tips on relocating or adding a second data connection?

What kind of truck do you have? What year? Which radio do you have IOR?
