Installed my Magnaflow catback..

I got #15778 side-exit 3 inch with 4inch tip with a 22" muffler for my 5.3L ECSB '04 truck. Some people had said the 22" muffler is too quiet, well it certainly isn't with the 3 inch plumbing.

It sounds good especially winding it out. There is a bit of drone around 2000rpm, though I had that with the stock system too. It has a very nice, deep tone and I'm happy with the sound and quality of the system. The muffler is mirror finish and the 4 inch tip with engraved 'Magnaflow' looks sweet sticking out the side.

Getting the stock exhaust out without cutting it was a bitch as I only had ramps and a jack to get the truck up high enough to get the exhaust out clearing the rear axle. That said it only took 2 hours start to finish.

I got the system for $377 shipped from http://www.fle-online.com/

Service was excellent and they shipped the system first thing Monday as I ordered on a Saturday. It arrived Thursday morning.

I don't have pictures or videos because I don't have a digital video camera and my digital still camera has a dead battery.

I am happy your magnaflow went together better than my old Borla system. I have a magnaflow on my race car (1991 Eagle Talon) and its excellent. Really quality stuff.

Was installation hard? What was involved in doing so?

Did you go to OU? If so, I can't help you. :jester:

1. I backed the truck up on some small ramps I have to raise the rear-end.

2. I then crawled underneath and unbolted two bolts that connected, for lack of better description, the cat-pipe from the catback-pipe. You'll see them.

3. Then, there are three rubber things that keep the stock exhaust (and the new exhaust) elevated, you just slide the exhaust hangers out of those rubber things. NOTE: Spraying a little oil will help A LOT to slide the hangers on and off.

4. There is a small, black brace underneath that I removed. One bolt and slide it off to the slide to help facilitate the removal of the exhaust in one piece.

5. Then I had to use a jack and a few jackstands on the front of the truck to get enough elevation to get the back part of the stock exhaust around the leaf springs and off in one piece. It's long, so rotating the stock exhaust around to get the back curve around the leaf spring requires a little bit of work.

6. After the stock exhaust is out, bolting the Magnaflow on was an piece of cake. Use the stock rubber hangers, the Magnaflow is in 3 pieces, so bolting it up front to back is very easy.

Were I to do it again, it would probably take one hour start to finish, but I had to figure out how to work the stock exhaust out with limited space underneath the truck. Having it on a lift would help A LOT, probably a 30 minute job at that point.

It was worth it.

LOL, no I'm not an OU Student, just grew up in an OU Football house. I'll be a University of Houston student next fall.

Thanks for the description. I wasn't sure about welding or anything.

No welding at all, it's a full bolt-on system.
