Winter wheels offset

Folks, 

 

I am looking for a set of wheels to mount winter tires.  I will keep the stock tire size or go to the appropriate stock size if I downsize the rims to 18".  Ideally I would like to find a set of takeoffs with the 44-47mm offset.  Guys that have them seem to want a ton of money where I am.  I have never put aftermarket wheels on a vehicle.  If I do, I am worried that they will stick outside the fender as they seem to max out in the 12-20mm range for offset with a lot even being negative.    Do you think this will be a problem?  Sorry for what may be a dumb question but I don't want to beat up the sides of the truck with slush and gravel.
