The PRNDL display on the instrument cluster is not working.  I can see a switch which looks like it is activated by the position of the transmission selector lever and a small black wire leading from it but I have no idea where it goes. I have a CD for 2003 GM truck maintenance and a Haynes manual but neither contains a wiring diagram for the steering column. I have tried searching for 2003 wiring diagrams but can't find any for the steering column. Could it be a blown fuse?? Which one?

Its usually the solder joints on the back of the display that is the problem. I believe the PCM controls the display but I may be mistaken

I tried to look at the guage display. I was able to snap off the big (black) cover but it looks like i have to remove the dial pointers to get the other cover off to see the printed circuit board.  I don't want to do that in fear of damaging them.
