I saw my First 2003

I went to pick my truck up from service and as always I strolled through the lot to see what they had...

Sitting with their other HD's was a 2003 2500HD excab 4x4 longbed Duramax/Allison.

I agree with everyone else that has seen them in person, that they are much better looking than in the pictures.

The Aluminum wheels are a carry-over from the current trucks. The front air dam and bumper are different along with the front clip. The door moldings are different also, and so are the tail lights. I thought it was strange that there was no badging on the truck to tell the trim level. (the sticker said LS).

I liked the looks of the truck, and even the tail lights looked good to me. (I could see nothing at the back of the truck, that was different from current trucks, so the tail lights could probably be swapped).

Sticker Price was $41,200.

Yeah, I think I'd buy one... Right now I like my body style better, but the new style isn't objectional. The same thing happened in '99. I wasn't crazy about it and preferred the older style, but things tend to grow on you...

Did it have the same hood as the 02's? I saw two 2003's yesterday, one reg cab 2500 4X4 long bed and one ext. cab, 2500 4X4 and both of them had the AV hoods on them? I thought that the 1500's were the ones to get the new hood?? But I did like the tail lights they do look much better in person.

We had two "MFG" (Manufacturer's vehicle...not for sale) '03's on the lot this past week and we had at least 10 people asking if they could buy one. So someone likes the looks!

One comment from a commercial fleet purchaser for Downer's Grove said "that thing looks mean!"

Yes it had the Av type hood... The front end is set off with a nice lower air dam...

I saw my first 03 today, 1500 4x4! It looked like a totally different truck IMO! It looked narrower too. It didnt look all that bad, I wouldnt mind keeping my 02 style and having an 03 too, thats why I think they should have been named different and still offer the 02 style or something! I guess that wouldnt have worked out well though having 2 different trucks and the same actual truck!
