rear end clunk 2000 z71

What you can do is a search for "Driveline Clunk" and there you will find more info than the average college student researching a paper at a library. Several treatments are lubing the slip yoke, changing to blue transfer case fluid from GM, and replacing the yoke with a nickel plated one.

my Yukon is at the shop for the 5th time in a month for this. they have replaced u-joints, nickel slip yoke, changed the fluid in the the transfercase. relubed the slip yoke again and still there o yea they even put new rear brakes and drums on it. today they are taking apart the rear dif to see what they can see. good luck i feel your pain.

I just took my pickup in to the dealership for the same exact thing. They told me that the transfer case needed to be shimmed in order to stop the clunk, I asked about the new Nickle plated TSB join and he said he could put one in but it would happen again if I didn't shim. Long story short if you don't mind the noise then it won't damage anything, (it's just a noise)
