Direct Hits Ignition

I was considering the Direct Hits Ignition for my 8.1L and was wondering what if any results anyone here has got from it. I just ordered my westers PCM, im not sure if i would need to make changes to the programming again or not. What kind of gains could i expect from it? Thanks

I run this system in both of my 8.1s and did some mileage testing with the Suburban. This was done on two trips that were 500 miles each way and I was pulling a 24' enclosed car haulter with the same load. There were actually 2 mods that were done together - the Direct Hits and a Volant induction. Before those mods I would see a consistant 215-225 miles per tank while towing (about 6.4 MPG  ). Mileage went up to 265-275 after the install (about 7.6). That trailer is like pulling a big wall behind the truck :fume:

Thanks TOM, what kind of HP/torque increase was there? Its odd because thats what im gonna do, im gonna get the direct hits, the volant induction, and maybe the after market MAF. Just waiting on the westers to see what that does for me. Do you think i will need a PCM reload after these mods?

I didn't do any dynoing but based on the info from Direct Hits and what I felt from the two mods I'd say the truck picked up about 20hp from the combo. Your programming is based on the stock MAF. You might need to have a new program made if you go with an aftermarket unit.

I'm waiting on my Westers too. I have also been wondering if doing something to the ignition is worth the expense, it sounds like it is. As for the MAF, is that worth doing ??

Tom,

Any plans to do a group purchase on the direct hits anytime soon?
