Seems strange they now have a way to test the engine and determine if yours needs replacing or just different oil. Why didn't they say before after all the complaints that they had a way to "test" the engine. I suspect they announced on a Friday afternoon to let the dealers figure out how they are going to handle he calls on Monday morning.

Test? Yeah they will look for a connecting rod sticking out of the engine block. Four years later and they are worried about customer satisfaction? Unspecified manufacturing defects? How about telling the truth to all your unsatisfied customers.

So now I'm ready for an early oil change. If I go in now and they test for the code and it turns up then they are obligated to impound my vehicle. If I keep using the vehicle then I'll be going beyond when I want to change oil and the now recommended 0-40. Not sure I want to take the risk of leaving my truck with them for an unknown period of time and only one vehicle in the family. Guess I'll call the dealer on Monday.

I would take it in. I change oil every 3000 miles. The bulletin says they will put you into a loaner.
