With the next generation of Silverado/Sierra scheduled to debut in the next few months, with all new sheet metal, front and rear facia, all new interiors, and all new engine choices, there is one lingering question.  Will the '27 model year be the end of Android Auto and Carplay?  I know this will be a DEAL-BREAKER for many GM truck owners!  Personally I can't see myself in a Ram or a Ford. AA and Carplay are just so seamless and easy and automatic. They're just part of the American driving experience. Your whole life is basically in your phone and now they want us to pay a monthly fee to use GM's proprietary system?. Am I the only one who thinks this is a BIG DEAL?

It's a big deal.  I understand GM wanting to monetize that data, unfortunately i have yet to see an infotainment system that worked as well as CarPlay, and I'm confident the Android folks will soon tire of paying GM for access to the Android apps already on their phones, and that they are already paying data plans for. Adding AppleMusic as an app to the GM environment where I still need to pay for data access is a non starter for me - I already pay for one data plan and don't see how it makes sense to pay for another one.  I won't be buying a new vehicle that does not support CarPlay, as long as there are alternatives (Body on frame like my 1500) that I can purchase when the time comes. I think it's quite a misstep by GM, I wonder if they will come to their senses. It will be weird to not be driving a chevy vehicle after 40 years of owning them.
