as some of you may know, my dad likes to have a car around to rack up the miles on. well, the Sentra is a great car, but it's not much of one. There is a Intrigue by my brother house for sale:

1998 Intrigue

3.8L

186,000 highway miles

Great shape

leather interior, with only some minor discoloration on the left bolster of the drivers seat. no rips or tear. The crhome on the wheels still loosk like new, has good Goodyear tires with 40% tread left. Regular maintaince by Jiffy Lube with Quaker State oil. Transmission serviced every 60K. Body and paint in great shape with no damage, save some scrates on the underside of the rear bumper(like a steep parking lot entrance or driveway).

said no work out of the oridany maintaince has been done bsides a switch to green coolant last winter. he said it might need new plugas and wire, since the wires are original and the plugs were last switched around 100K. IT dosen't show any sign of needing anything else.

he wants $3,500.

for the basic purpose of an "extra car to drive", it seems nice. it looks like its had a life of 50K miles. Will this engine run to an easy 250-300K with no major problems? I would, of course, do a tune up asap.(all filters, plugs, wires, oil to Mobil 1, trans if needed)

We realize well will have to drive it until it explodes because of the mileage. but, might as well do it in comfort, right?

The 3.8L is a great motor. Lot's of power combined with good fuel economy (close to 30 mpg's on the highway). It's been around forever (25+ years)

I think the car would be OK, but I would be afraid of nickle/diming you to death with regular wear and tear items... wheel bearings/CV's etc...

Those Intrigues are very nice cars though... very comfortable, and everything seems to be right where it belongs!!!
