Who's got the most miles

Some people on smaller board I'm on brought up piston slap and I'm trying to prove a point. So who has racked up the miles on your 6 liter or 8.1? Any problems internaly?

I don't qualify, because I only have 15K miles on my truck, but to answer your question, I don't think I have heard of any premature failures.

Just over 57000mi on my 01' 2500HD w/ the 6.0L and no engine problems except a little CSK and lifter tap. Still running strong though.....

We have 2 -2001 HD regular cab long beds with a 6.0 here at work. One has 125k on it and the other has 150k+. Bost are knockers. Neither had any problems nor burn any oil. Trust me, they are drove hard and used EVERY day.

Me too...almost to 11,000 miles. The slapping is just now starting to appear every time I start the engine, for the first 30 seconds or so.

2001, 6.0 auto, 4x4, 2500, 56,500 miles, CSK, piston slap and burns oil. Although when cold it still sounds like a diesel. At least the detonation knock has subsided. There is no way I'll burn preminium fuel in a basic Pick Up truck.

 

No mechanical problems whatsoever.

Hey Shaners, I'm still around just not as much. Maybe it's because this board reminds me how much I miss my HD. I'll get another one sooner or later.

got an '01 2500 HD w/ the 8.1 and 6 speed. replaced the crankshaft position sensor at 28k, now have 33,990 on it and have no other probs except for a little oil usage. runs like a bat outta hell. zoom, zoom, zoooooooommmmmmmm.

2002 8.1 Avalanche approaching 74k miles, used and abused, never complains. Sees the high side of 4k rpm everyday, it loves every minute of it and so do I

2001 2500HD 8.1 just turn 100K I am suspecting a crankshaft sensor.

burn about a qurat per oil change of 5-6000 miles.
