How often do you replace your PCV valve?

Most of us do routine maintaince on our vehicles. Just wondering how often (miles wise) do you change your PCV valve.

 

I got a week off from work so I'm trying to get a bunch of stuff done around the house and on our vehicles.

If your worried about it take it out and clean with carb cleaner and install. 20 04 trucks dont even have one just an orfice.

I do mine every 2nd oil change

I replace mine every oil change 5K miles (synthetic). The actual GM part only cost me about $2.57, bought 10 up front so I've got parts for 50K miles.

I have 53K miles on my 2000 Z71 Silverado. I've replaced the PCV valve twice so far. As mentioned above, you can clean the old one and reuse it or get a new one. I save the old ones and spray them with carb cleaner or other solvent and keep them for future use if neccesary. As long as you can hear it rattle and move you should be ok.

You guys are wasting your money changing or cleaning your PCV valve. Where in the owners manual do it say to change it that often. Also go to the "Guide" section on this site and read about "Changing Your PCV Valve" also 2004 5.3 L dont have a PCV valve they have the fixed orfice.

You can use the orificed type PCV on any pre 99+ LS1 based trucks if you are having oil consumption issues.
