 I just changed the battery in my truck, now it doesn't start and the security light stays on (not flashing!!!). I'm about an hour from home at a buddy's house. I don't know if its the passlock system ot my remote start that is causing it. But I am screwed right now. I can't reach the place the installed the remote start ( crimestopper rs-900). I also tried the learn procedure. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Well, just got home, had to call the wife to pick me up after I screwed around with things so much that I locked myself out of the truck by accident. She wasn;'t to happy to find me playing poker with the buds when she got there. But anyway, when I locked myself out, the ignition was on and when I finally unlocked the door with the spare that she brought the security was still on steady. The truck just starts for 1 second then shuts down. Must be the passlock. Does anyone know if I can just plug in my actron code scanner to clear the security code and run the truck??? I'm really bummin' here!!!!!!!!:lol:

Passlock sounds right from the symptoms, but you have some aftermarket security stuff (remote start) that could be throwing everything out of wack!!!

Try the "relearn" thing again and be patient... maybe that is all it'll take.

Good Luck!!!

the relearn normally takes 10 mins

last time i did one i tryed to start the vehicle and left the key

in the on position for at least 10 mins

then turn key off and back on

good luck

u must relearn and its takes 10 mins per cycle try to crank it and leave it in the run position for 10 and wait security light to go off and then come on again and repeat for a total of 3 times

I tried the relearn procedure, but the security light stays on for more than ten minutes, in fact, when I locked my keys in the truck with the ignition on, 2 hours and 45 minutes went by and the light was still falsing security. If I turn the ignition off, the security light is on steady and doesn't turn off. Incidently, the power door un-lock on the drivers side is not working, but the passenger does??? The courtesy is not working either?? Check all of the fuses and the door lock relays, and all is well.:lol::eek::wtf:

If your remote start has an extra "security" feature, then try putting it in Valet mode. My wifes Cutlass Convertible has an alarm, and I don't have a remote for it... There is a hidden button under the dash that I have to push with the ignition in the run position. This puts the alarm in Valet mode, and allows the vehicle to start.

I only have to do this if there has been an interuption to the 12V power source.

Tired that, its seems to be the passlcok II, just because of the fact (i think) that the security light will not go out, even after overnight!! Btw, this all started because I found that the positive terminal on my battery was broken, stil worked but broken and leaking, any seen that before?

Try pulling the fuse 4 the remote start/alarm only...sometimes when the battery is disconnected and reconnected the system has to be reset...w/passlock II a by-pass module would have been installed w/th remote start...this problem sounds like the passlockII by-pass module is sticking...just pull the fuse for the alarm/stater...and remeber to do this the next time you need to disconnect the batt.....I learned the hard way on my wifes car,I installed a design-tech starter on her 2000 pontiac and ran in2 the same problem u r describing..

Well, went back at it today with a fresh head. Check the fuses again, and its turns out that the 10amp fuse labeled TBC in the fuse box under the hood was blown. Replaced it and the truck fired right up. Its strange, because the battery was unhooked for quite some time but nothing had to be re-programmed (even the radio). I thought that I might have to do the re-learn for the BCM but I didn't have to. Thanks for the help guys!!!

If you remove the batt terminal, and replace, sometimes you will get a surge that could be enough to blow a fuse. Glad you got it going!
