Torsion Bar Lowering?

Is it possible to loosen my torsion bars so that it will lower the whole rear of my truck insted of using aftermarket parts that are way overpriced? Or would this just be stupid and dangerous? And if it is OK, do i need my front-end realigned?

2 things on that. First, you have a 2WD, no torsion bars on yours. Second, tightening the torsion bars raises the front, making the truck level if you raise them both and may have a "lowering" effect on the opposite rear corner if only adjusting one. Note what was said in that thread, the driver's side rear looked lower than the passenger's side rear, so adjust the t-bar UP on the driver's side and the passenger rear would go down some just due to weight being transferred differently.

The question is kind of a wash anyway, your 2WD has coil springs like someone else in that thread said his has, so you'd need to use spacers up front or buy a set of lowering shackles for the rear.

an alignment is neccessary if you do anything to the suspension, and if you're lowering it, you ought to get a camber kit installed when you align it.
