I'm scared now, a ranger w/ the good looks of a superduty front end, but still w/ the ugly body of the ranger. I don't know, it doesn't stand out from being a regular ranger like the ZR2's tower over the rest of the S-10's. Give me a ZR2 anyday.

Don't tell me that this weak attempt is going to make our folks at GM turn tail and run. They'd better keep the ZR-2 into the Colorado lineup. I don't want to stand witness to the demise of another great package like the 454SS when the Lightning showed up. Granted, the first generation Lightning was rather weak, but the current gen is kicking butt because GM wouldn't up the ante. Don't let the same happen with the ZR-2 package.

Ford ran out of money to make the Ranger better, so this is what the Ford loyalists get? Good for them. I'm suprised they didn't name it something catchy like the "Edge". Oh, that's the one that looks like a 4x4 and this one really is? My mistake.

I'm ashamed to live anywhere near the Edision NJ plant that creates this crap...

Did anyone else find it funny when they read it???

"it was a concept built on information gathered from real-world off-roaders at events across the country" -- all they did was asked all the ZR2 owners what they liked about there truck

"from economical work/commuter vehicle to a fully capable off-road weapon" -- no comment????

"15" ALCOA Forged Aluminum Wheels and B.F. Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO Tires (31x10.5)" -- too bad we have those tires already

and finally ford tries for the shot below the belt with this one!:

I like how they highlight the fact that it's got the front tow hooks. I guess any type of off road vehicle that ford makes would need them. With the ZR2 it stands out, you can just glance and tell it's special, but this "thing" looks like a 2wd truck

now now....don't be upset b/c u have a competitor! ford has a well executed compact off road truck, and so does GM. the FX4 is a nice truck, real off-road wheels/tires, and a nice package. just because ford introduces a new package doesn't make it crap.

you seem to have the FX4 mixed up with the EDGE...the FX4 is a 4x4, the EDGE is not. the EDGE is a pre runner style truck

2wd is not all bad, have u seen the Baja trucks? they are 2wd

I think the only crap about the whole thing was what they wrote.. I d have to actually drive the truck to give an honest opinion.. I just know that they should have been a little more honest when saying *the FX4 really doesn’t have any competition at all*

Ford know as well as every other auto maker in that catagory that we have the top truck everyones just fighting for 2nd..

The only thing IMO that the truck may have a little over the ZR2 is the manual transfer case... Our push button can be a ***** sometimes...

I really hate to have to break this to you because I was going to stay out of this discussion since I'm obviously biased but Ford does make a 4wd version of the Edge.

It stickers for about $400 less than a ZR2 and the FX4 is just a glorified version of the Edge.

The three that I saw on a dealership lot had 265/75/15's on them which are the equilivent of what the BFG 31x10.50 is.

That eliminates the main difference between the Edge and the FX4 alone.

I looked very closely at the 4x4 Edge trucks in question and all I'm going to say is that I'm glad I bought a ZR2.

I think the F-O-R-D has gotten to your brain... I was being a wise butt by mixing the two. I know the difference between an Edge and the new 4x4 package... I think its funny that Ford makes a package that costs almost the same as 4 wheel drive so your truck looks like its four wheel drive.

yes u r right there is a 4wd drive edge, but there is a 2wd prerunner version too. i don't see what is so bad about this truck. manual transfer case, 31" tires, looks cool. basically it's a ford zr2, so if the fx4 sucks than the zr2 must suck too because they are the same thing, just from diff. companies
