Early 90's Integra with N2O vs. my "Redneck Truck"

Alright, I hate to post without a little background, so here goes. I went out to a movie on Friday night, something I haven't done in a long time... Evidently the movie theater is now the place to hang out, well, in the parking lot of it anyways... As my date and I, and a few of here friends are leaving, we walk past a group of guys standing in the parking lot listening to their radios at about 140db. Anyways, I notice when we leave, two cars fall in behind my date's friends car, and mine...

The other two girls are driving a 1998 Dodge Avenger, while I am in my truck... while the two other cars are a early 4 door integra and a newer honda civic. I can tell by watching them behind us, that the guys in the integra (3 of them) are desperately trying to get the girls in the Avenger to notice them, while the Civic is just going nuts weaving all over the d**n place. Well, this goes on for a little ways a four lane road until we all have to get onto a larger 6 lane road... Luckily the girls in the Avenger pass us and make a red light, allowing them to continue on without having to worry about the goofballs in the other two cars. I ended up at a red light in the far left lane, with the integra right beside me, and the civic on his right... It's 1:30 in the morning and the road is deserted, so I pretty much knew what was gonna happen, I'm old (26) but not that old. LOL

Anyhow, my date rolls down her window about the same time as the passenger in the back of the integra rolls his down... By now the driver of the integra is revving the little bugger up pretty high, letting his bumble-bee bazooka exhaust belch forth it's wretched wail, quickly joined by the civic, whose radio has so much bass it's making my teeth rattle. They notice my date looking out the window, and stop the radio racket for a second. Here's a brief transcript of the conversation... lol

Integra rear Passenger was the one talking(I don't know why the driver wouldn't say anything)

"Opey": You wanna run that Redneck piece of s**t? (Who is basically talking to my date, since I can barely see him...)

Me: Huh? *Yelling* Lay off the throttle a second genius, I can't hear you.

Opey: You wanna race, we'll give you a jump in that piece of s**t, we're runnin' "naws"... It won't be fair..*mumble* Radio starts booming again.

Me: Oh yeah, I only got a V6, I bet your sports car is too fast for me...

Opey: *To the driver of the teg* *Laughing* He's only got a 6, we're gonna kill him.

Well, my date looks over and says we should try to race them, as it might be kind fun. I agree, and sit there wondering whether or not Opey and his P-tards actually have anything to run with or not, when he purges the d**n N2O lines on that little terd for about 3 seconds straight. Hmm, I think... if he does that again, he'll almost empty the bottle... about the time he lets another spout off, the cross street's light turns yellow...

I stand on the brakes, and let the settle into about 1K RPM's, just barely loading the suspension enough to bring the bed up a little. At green, I stayed on the brakes enough to go about 1/2 throttle at 1,500RPM's or so. I had a little wheelspin, but not much. At about 15 or 20MPH, I went full throttle and didn't let out until about 85 or so when it shifted out of 2nd (Gotta love the raised shift detents, Thanks Lyndon!) Surprisingly, I pulled about 4 carlengths on the integra by then, since he didn't seem to have too much down low... The civic must have been fairly stock, as he was probably 50 yards behind the integra at that point. We continued on this road for about 2 miles at the speed limit, but they both turned around before we could catch another light... Kind of a pity, since I wanted to see what they thought of my redneck POS then. :D My date was over there giggling like a little kid, which pretty much made my whole night. It was fun stuff!

PS>The movie "The punisher" was good.

at the track the other night I raced a ranger and that kid didn't know what hit him. I ran a 14.1@96 to his 17.9@77. he was trying to stare me down or something until I put my helmet on (getting close to 13's) and he went back to looking at his ghetto drop with like 32* of negitive camber

Awesome... Here at the "test and tune" track days, they make us wear helmets the whole time.. my favorite is the one a friend of mine wears, a bicycle helmet from walmart. lol.

That is an great time, Heck, it'd be nice if I could run anything in the 14's...

My friend has a 93 Sonoma with the (225hp TPI) 4.3L, and that thing just sits still and eats the tires up, even with a locking rear diff... I would imagine you're truck makes for a wild ride if you can hook up from a start... Coolness.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but you said that you have a 4.8L V6?

Me: Oh yeah, I only got a V6, I bet your sports car is too fast for me...

Opey: *To the driver of the teg* *Laughing* He's only got a 6, we're gonna kill him.

Last time I checked, the 4.8 was a V8, not a V6. The 4.3 would be the V6. So what do you have, a 4.8L V8 or a 4.3L V6?

Maybe I'm mistaken. :wtf:

You're right on man, I've got a 4.8L V8, I just wanted to mess with the guys in that car a little bit...

I told those guys that in hopes that I would beat them, and notch their ego down even more than if they knew I had an 8 cylinder. :chevy: I hope they went home scratching their head as to how that "V6" beat them like a rented mule. lol

yea I got slicks now and caltracs so the traction is sick. I had a typo I ran 14.1

Kripes, You're only one good run away from 13's! Awesome stuff!

I have a V6 those kids would fear. I just got my heads in the mail :wtf: I want to hit 13's with tq managment and then when I do the heads and cam and reflash it will be very low 13's maybe 12's

ps the best thing to do to someone that purges at you is to purge back and grin

No doubt. :chevy: You're right, the V6 you're running would be a hell of a match up for almost any V8 truck and a lot of V8 cars.

I ran a 50 and sometimes a 75 Dry shot on my old 1989 Chevy... I didn't get a purge installed till the last few months that ran N2O, but it was funny as hell after I got it. I miss my old truck with all this talk about N2O, here's an old pic just for the hell of it:

Too many mods to remember, but it started life as a quite weak 305ci V8, 700R4, and 2.73 rear gear combo... Whew, not exactly a barn-stormer... lol I think I actually modified everything I could bolt-on wise without going forced induction, it came out to be something like $7,000 over the 13 years I owned the truck. When it was running on the bottle, I made two 13 second passes, a 13.8 and 13.9, in that order. Both on street tires, with 4 50lb sandbags in the back. I can't remember the trap speeds off the top of my head, as that was like 6 years ago. lol. That took one hell of lot to get that heavy ass beast to move like that. :wtf:

wow that truck is a sleeper. I love my NX wet kit and would recomend it to anyone who is thinking about running nitrous. you could run a 125 shot safely on your new rig and that thing would boogie. also drop that thing when you get a chance the wheel gap is a little too much for my likeing

Yeah, I've been looking at getting some 2" shackles, but I don't think I can. I haul a lot of junk like my ATV, and firewood and such, so I can't take away that much supsension travel in the rear. It would be nice to at least level the truck out though...

I would love to run a wet kit on this truck, but I decided before I got it to just gradually buy bolt-ons until I can go with a supercharger. I spent so much money before, I figured I might as well pick something and save for it this time. :-) I'll be ordering SLP headers and a Powertrax no-slip unit pretty soon, which should be my last bolt on pieces.

A Kenne Bell kit is my goal for the future, and if I can keep on track, in less than 1 year can get one.

    • Do you remember that Harley Davidson was more successful (solvent) when it produced about 60% of the market demand (by design) and forced wait times of up to three years? Even when your turn came around it was, "Take what we are giving you or move to the back of the line and start over". HUGE markup's were 'normalized' and dealer killed. 40% markup and no floor plan? What's not to love? Greed will kill them yet. They have surplus production and customer base is tanking. And still they think nosebleed pricing will work.
    • The engine was done as part of the 6.2 recall?   You'd have to see if your VIN also has the 6.2 engine special coverage on it.  Coverage number is N252494003.  If you have this, your engine is covered under this and NOT the GM replacement part engine warranty which is 3yr/100k from the date of install.  The 3yr/100k mi warranty is in effect for non warranty purchases.     This is not any different if it was replaced under warranty without a recall or special coverage.  So if you had a 5.3 and it popped at 3 years in at 50,000mi during the 5yr/60k powertrain, the replacement engine would not get the 3yr/100k, and instead gets the remainder of the 5yr/60k as coverage.     So N252494003 gives 10 years or 150,000mi of coverage, which ever comes first, starting at the vehicle in service date.  So if your in service date is 01/01/2022, N252494003 gives you special coverage of the engine until 01/01/2032 or 150,000mi, whichever comes first.  So if your start date was 01/01/2022, you'd have left 5 years and 4 months (lets round to august 1st), or 62,000mi left of coverage.   So you need to know your in service date to know how much coverage is left.
    • Okiee dokie there bud, way to take things to the extreme.   I guess you missed the whole point and take things way to serious. I installed different EV6 style injectors that just so happen to be larger in my car running the same LQ4 engine and with a better spray pattern than the stock style injectors and I noticed no difference in the idle quality. Kinda was my round about way of saying that even if you put the same size but better style injectors in your truck, you will likely see the same thing.    I'm sure you're great to have conversations with in person if that's how you act through a keyboard. One little things sets you off and now I guess my dick is all up in your face.
    • I can't believe that could possibly be the case. It should be 36mo/100k miles from installation. Then again, it also seems like since a dealership installed it, it'd all be in the system and you wouldn't need to worry about registering, either. Shows you what I know. 😄 Hope this one outlives the warranty!
