Pre-wired fog lights???

Recommended Posts

Was just wondering if my 2000 Silverado is pre-wired for fog lights. I have looked for wires back there with no luck.

Are they hiding from me or are they not there??

Just curious. Thanks!

The switch should be with the cargo light switch behind dash bezel. The light harness won't be there. You need the harness that runs from the under fuse box to the light cut-outs. And that, you need dealer programming so the PCM will recognize that you have fog lights.

on the 03's and 04's you do not need to have the pcm reprogrammed.. Everyone that ive talked to, including myself that has added the factory foglights have had no problem.. the 02' and back dont have the programming

You will have to wire them yourself. I added them to my 2002 Sierra z71 and I had to wire them to the BEC. It's not a difficult job. I bought the OEM foglights and air dam on ebay. You will have to take your truck to the dealer to have them "turned on" so the computer will know they are there. They will tell you that the dealer will do it for free, but I called a couple of dealers and $36 was the cheapest I could get them to do it for. But, they do look great!

Okay I know this is old but I just discovered a problem when installing my aftermarket fogs.

My truck appears to be pre-wired for factory fogs. I have two sets of wires near the fog light housing, and a fog light button in my truck.

The only problem is that the factory fogs on this year are 880's, which are rated at 27W.

My new fog lights are hella ff75's, rated at 55W.

I'm wondering if the higher power will melt my wires. Anybody know?

The wiring should be fine, but the extra heat from the bulbs may melt the fog light assembly.

Thanks! The assembly came with the new bulbs, so they should all be fine. I was just worried about my stock wiring and switch.
