Aftermarket HU w/ factory Bose speakers?

Hey all,

Back when I had my '02 Z71, just installing an aftermarket HU made the system sound 10x better (non-Bose speakers.) I eventually wound up doing the whole system in the truck... and am now spoiled, as my '04 truck sounds like complete ass (the Bose sounds awful compared to what I'm used to.) My last truck was an extended cab - my new truck is a crew cab, and it's turning out to be a little more difficult than I originally hoped to swap my system over to the new truck (need a new sub box, rear speakers are different, etc.) Since I'm not made of money, it's gonna take me a few months to acquire new components. In the meantime, I was thinking I can probably get the HU in, to make this thing sound at least a LITTLE better.

Is it as simple as getting a harness adapter and plugging it in? Or does the Bose system make this more difficult?

bose is an installers worst nightmare! because they like to use speakers that vary fron 2ohms to 10ohms you gotta goto every speaker and find out what each is..your best bet and probally more time consuming is running all new speaker wires..it doesnt matter if you bypass the factory amp..it still wont sound as good as it should and it might not even sound better

lt7406 hit the nail on the head.. When a vehicle with bose comes into our work everyone kind of grimaces.. and for a salesperson its hard to explain that if you want to replace your head unit your going to need new speakers as well.. and extra labor to run new wire and what not.. it really is a pain.. good luck on your journey :flag: Your in the right direction though.. get rid of all of that crap if you want something that sounds good...
