Mule Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 I had a friend reccommend Griot's Garage Bumper and Trim Reconditioner (#11183) for my car's targa roof to bring the black back. It is not a dressing, but more of a dye. It worked so well, I used it on the door handles and rear bumper pads on my truck and they look new. Not shiny, but dark black again, like new plastic. It takes a few coats, but great results. Two coats on the truck, but four coats on the targa roof. Comes in a bottle like shoe edge dressing with a sponge applicator. It works best on textured plastic, but okay on smooth plastic, like mudflaps. Doesn't wash off or fade at all.
dfarr Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 sem trim black is great for touch up, including reblacking wiper arms, wears well.
Midnight Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 I may have to give this a try on my fender flares. Thanks for the review.
KENWORTH-1 Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Hope this is better than Mother's Back to Black. Does Griot's Garage Bumper and Trim Reconditioner come off when it rains. As Mother's Back to Black does and also leaves streaks all over the paint and chrome after it rains. It also, attaches alot of dust! Will be on the lookout for Griot's..have not seen it here yet. Where did you buy it? Thanks

Where did you buy it? Thanks Griot's Garage website. It definitly does not run like Back to Black. I would have BTB on my roof, then wash the car and have it all over the windows. This stuff is a dye, or a paint, so it dries completely.
Midnight Posted September 20, 2004 Posted September 20, 2004 Yeah, I've been using the BTB. It held up pretty good for about a week and a half, but most of it has now ran off the doorhandles, down the doors and all over the chrome on the bumpers. Placing an order with Griots right now.
Mule Posted September 20, 2004 Author Posted September 20, 2004 Yesterday, I used the Griot's on the bumper pads, the door handles, the nerf bar steps (the pad, not the bar), the nerf bar plastic ends, and the mudflaps. they all look new. I am buying more.
Midnight Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 I ordered a couple of bottles this week. It looks pretty good. One thing I'd reccomend though, is getting a decent sized sponge to use on large, flat areas. The little applicator pad on the bottle works great for nooks and crannies, but it's a pain to get it applied evenly on larger areas.
ManyCamaroz Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 I just use the Armor All Tire Dressing (thick concentration in a spray bottle). I spray it on a rag and wipe the tires, bumper pad, front air dam, and body side mouldings. It last a long time and I have not noticed and running like other products. Another trick I use is, I spray my inner fenderwells with tire foam cleaner/dressing after washing the vehicle to eliminate the pain of washing the fenderwells each time. Makes the truck look clean like it just came from the detail shop.
Midnight Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 Well the Griott's stuff is still looking good nearly 3 months after I applied it to my fender flares. It's survived numerous rainstorms and washings. Definately good stuff. I'll probably apply it to the rest of the trim this spring.
