Dash Light Color?

I was wondering if anyone knows if you can install Pontiac dash lights in a Silverado. Pontiac dashes are white without the lights on and are orange when the lights are on. I thought it would be a cool and easy mod if it is just a bulb swap. Thoughts?

Some interior lights have a blue condom and you can just change to a red or orange condom and it will change the light.

Other lights use a clear bulb with nothing on it, the blue is painted into the dial. You can possibly sand the blue off, but the you risk accidentally sanding into the white. I once tried to use lacquer thinner to remove the blue but turns out lacquer thinner removes the white too.
