K&N FIPK Kits for the Triplets

Recommended Posts

I'll have to verify tomorrow, but I believe K&N has released or is VERY close to releasing a FIPK induction kit for the triplets.

Hopefully it'll be a nice cold air setup.  Anyone heard of anything yet?

Two things, 1. I see the kit on the Volant website, but where do you buy it?  I couldn't find it anywhere on the net.  Also, what exactly is the deal with K&N?

K&N and Volant seem to be about the same thing.  They both provide aftermarket air intake parts to replace the restrictive stock intake, thus providing a little more HP and throttle response.

I think I'll stick w/ K&N when I purchase mine, due to the fact they've been around longer and are tried and tested.  Plus you can't beat their 10year 1,000,000 mile warranty.

No, what I meant was, what is going on in terms of K&N's release?  I am curious to see their setup because I like the box on the Volant version.  Also, where can you order the Volant version from?  I know a bunch of places online for the K&N, just not the volant.

No word yet from K&N.

Volant looks like they make some good kits.

OneStopTruckShop is a few minutes away from me.  I know the owners, will have to discuss this with them.    (Small world)

Well, got tired of waiting for the FIPK so I did my own...

Cut stock top box in half to retain the top tube hole baffle chamber (you cut between the two stickers!)

Clamped on a conical K&N filter I had.

Throttle response, noticable.

Mileage, unknown, we'll see if improved.

Intake temps, 10* above ambient when moving (80* humid weather), when stopped for long periods of time, significant at ~ 127*, however, drops VERY VERY quickly once moving.

A cold air package would be better if routed to a spot lower.  I will do more testing, but GM seems to have done a pretty good job with the stocker.

We'll see what K&N claims. ;)
