Windshield noise TSB????

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have the TSB/Service bulletin for this. I took my truck to the dealer, they ordered a new seal, but since I haven't been able to get the truck back to the dealer, they said they have to order a new one. I'd like to get the part number/TSB number before I call them back. They don't know what part was ordered. Dumbasses.

FR......Do you have a bug shield on your truck? If you do....

THATS your problem........

Its been discussed here many times about the windsheild noise

they create on the NBS trucks..............geo :flag:

Like I said before, they already looked at it and ordered a revised moulding (from what I was told). I'll just have to call them and explain it to them.

BTW: I'm running the GM bugshield.

D........One of the "cures" for the noise from any brand bugshield was

installation of rubber pads behind the sheild or back on the cowl area.

Can't quite remember where they are placed (old age...LOL).

Do a search here. I am sure you will find the cure that other

members have posted...................geo

All you need to do,(and I had it done by my dealer) is either put some 3-M sticky-back tape or windshield sealant behind the molding and it's fixed. No muss, no fuss, no charge.

The bug deflector, any of them, changes the wind flow pattern causing the windshield molding to flap at highway speed. On mine, it sounded like popcorn popping. anoying, but easily fixed.

RICH.......I thought they had to glue down or use the sticky pads

on/under the black plastic cowl pieces ???????

Gotta do that search..............geo

I just did what the Guides suggested last night. On the way to work this morning no more noise. Found the tape at Wal-Mart.

Guys, guys.....CLICK HERE for the guide on getting rid of that noise. It's a really easy 20 minute job. (That's if you take your time.)

That link isnt there anymore, where did it go?

Not sure where it went.

But you can just buy some double-sided tape and run a strip of it down either side by lifting up the trim (put the tape between the trim and the windshield) and sticking it down. Other people have done this with a small bead of silicone too.

Pretty sure that it may have been this problem that originally led me to this forum.

It was either that, or looking up stuff for the Avalanche when they first hit the streets.
