61man Posted June 2, 2004 Posted June 2, 2004 For the last year and one half I have had a problem with the 4L60E transmission in my 1997 silverado. When I first start the truck up in the morning after about 15 to 20 seconds the check enging light comes on with a PO785 (3-2 shift solenoid problem). The transmission has a harsh shift from 1st. to 2nd. and doesn't go into 4th. After the truck warms up, I can shut it off, wait about 15 seconds, restart it and the transmission shifts just fine the rest of the day or until it cools down. I took it to a transmission shop in the area who changed the 3-2 shift solenoids, no help. I then took it to a dealer in the area and they charged me around $500.00 and changed a wire harness in the transmission, no help either. I took it back to the dealer and he wanted to charge me another $500.00 to change the valve body, said that he thought the valves were sticking. I told him that he was just guessing and that I would let him change the valve body if, it didn't fix the problem, he would not charge me for the valve body. He would not agree to that so I took the truck home with the intention of waiting until it really broke and then fixing it. Well it has been about a year and a half, I've towed a 5000 lb. load from Atlanta to St. Louis and back, driven to Fla. and back twice and the problem has not changed. Does anyone have any ideas as to what can be the problem.. Thanks 61man
