Elec. Fan W/ Underdrive Pully

I`ve been wanting to go to a set of electric fans and was thinking if I`m working on the front of my engine it would be a good time to also install an underdrive pully. I have heard though that the fans pull quite a bit of power and am wondering if an underdrive would cut the output of my alternator enough to cause a problem with the fan. Is anyone running these two mods together?

Few people complain about that little problem. It does underdrive the Alt. a bit. But there is an O/D pulley that is supposed to take car of that. You say you are getting E-fans. Friend of mine did the ASP U/D pulley with the stock fan in place and his temps would climb when he sat at an idle. Are you getting Flexalites or using LS1 fans?? I have to give a big thumbs down to Flexalites VSC. I see way too many problems with them. Delta Current Control makes an awesome fan controller! You should check it out! It works ALOT different than the VSC does. Plus I havent heard of any problems with their products versus Flexalites pile.

Also there is the option of using the PCM to turn the fans on and off. Allen Nelson produces a full harness to wire the fans to the truck PCM. If you have access to a custom tuner or LS1Edit you can set your fan temps that way. The harness is like $50-$60 dollars. But the DCC controller is more appealing to me.

I was planning on using the Flexalites.

Reason I dont like the Flex's is bacause they suck alot of juice! They tend to melt stuff sometimes. Im gonna run a set of LS1 fans wired up to the PCM more than likely.. They are alot cheaper too!

it will get a little warmer with the underdrive pulley. yes the flex a lites do draw some amps. with the dc controller it is all taken care of.

ha ha ha ha ha . now thats funny jared. with the dc controller they seem to never come on more than 50%. thus less amp draw.
