The shocks on my 94 S10 4x4 were shot. I went to Autozone and got some Gabriels and put them on. JUNK. They are horrible. I am looking for a good, not too expensive, shock that will give me a smooth ride. I drive on some pretty rough roads and my kidneys are hurting!

Any recommendations? Also, where can I get them? Thanks.

any gabriel or monroe shock from autozone or pepboys or advanced auto are gonna be junk. the best shock out there is bilstein. i got mine for  $45 each through offroad ware house. their about the same price, if not cheaper than even rancho's rs 5000, and these bilstiens will outlast your truck. i took a set of bilsteins off of a 93 chevy 1500 4X4( theiy were factory eqiupment bilstiens), and they were still stiffer than the gabriel pro ryders i installed(i work for pepboys), and then had about 80,000 miles on them. i have bilstiens all the way around on my sonoma, and it rides much SMOOTHER than with the original shocks, check into them, you wont be sorry!

I second the Bilstein vote.  I will also recommend the Edelbrock IAS shocks as they use variable valving to help keep the body motion under control during varying driving conditions.  I have them on my truck (installed yesterday) and so far I like them.

Bilstein is definietly the way to go. However, if you are limited on funds, Monroe makes a new shock called the Reflex, that was designed for SUV's. You can check it out on their website. Just for the record, I am pretty sure that Monroe owns Rancho.
