2500HD Exhaust. Need a new one!

After 75000 exact miles, my muffler and cat(s) went on vibrate and rattle mode. I'm looking to replace them, but i need to know what all you have replaced the stock one with. I have heard of some torque loss with certain aftermarket products, so i was thinking of going to the dealer and getting another stock muffler and cat(s).

I have a 2001 2500HD 6.0L 4x4 extended cab short box if that helps.

I am having a Flowmaster 40 series put on, as we speak. Dual out the back.

I have a Carsound cat on my Jeep, which made a nice difference.

Heard mixed things, but in your case, I would probably get two separate mufflers and get an X pipe.

I am just doing a 3" in, dual 2.5" out. But since you have dual in, you mine as well run true dual exhaust.

If you go with true duals most of the time you will loss low speed part throttle responce and torque. If low end responce is important to you, go with a big single.

Wow, I am surprised that your exhaust is giving you trouble with only 75,000mi on it. I have almost 68,000 on my HD and have had no problems, yet! I would go with a setup similar to stock with a good muffler though. Dual cats and a dual/in dual/out muffler. I like Flowmasters myself, but I have heard there are some issues with resonation from the 6.0L engines. I think they are working on a new muffler for these engine now though. Good luck with what ever you decide...

It was running fine until i got her home after pulling her hard. The muffler sounded like it had rocks in it. I figured a seam in the inside had given out. At least the cats have 10/100K on them from GM.

I'll need to keep it quiet in the cab as the wife wouldn'y like it. I would like to get a dual pipe out one side with long crome tips, but i guess i'll ahve to see what i end up i can find.

I have the borla cat back kit on my truck. I like it alot and has a real nice sound. The best part is that there is hardly any resonance if you could even call it that. I can send you a vid if you want.

p.s. I am waiting for bbtriflo to come out with a kit then I will change to that

Holy thats almost a grand for the exhaust! sheesh, i have to pay attention more. I had a buddy of mine get a complete system for under $300 on his 1500 and thats with 2 pipes! I wonder if i am in over my head on this one. either that, or i need to get a sweet sounding muffler and have the local shop craft me a stainless pipe.

LOL, had to give you a hard time with that one. lol.

We're trying to get more and more 6.0 and 8.1 clips. I posted Franks, but Chris (webmaster) is going on vacation for like 10 days to the Pepsi 400, then we're going to do more work and clean up the site, post all sorts of new clips, et. Cool! thanks! They sounded pretty neat...

So here may be my plan... get a Borla muffler, then have the shop weld on a single pipe, or a dual pipe out one side. I like the look of the stainless and figure i'd get a prett good rumble this way without pissing off the wife. what do you guys think?
