I think my system is callled a firk or something. Its the whole replacement deal that does away with the airbox and gives you a new big cone filter.I'm looking fo a pre-filter like deal,to keep oout dust and water from the filter.kinda like the ones they have for atvs.

Yup....click here..

Even though that's for the stock application, I would be willing to bet that if you give them a K&N part number, they would sell you a prefilter.

I love having one on my ATV. I run with my lid off, and that sucker has saved me from cranking water out of my cylinder on a half-dozen occasions.

Here's the information from when I bought my drycharger for my FIPK. It helps keep the filter clean really well, and I couldn't tell any difference in performance with it on there... Wingnut is right on about the pre-filters, they are some good stuff!

From an older post:

I ordered mine from here... http://www.usdieselparts.com/knfilters/

since they had free shipping.

The part number I ordered was: RF-1041DR, should be the same for yours.

The last two digits of the part number are the color of the Drycharger.

DR = Red, DY = Yellow, DL = Blue, and DK = Black.

The part number should be the same for the 5.3L as it is for my 4.8...

Check K&N sites for your particular model if your not sure...

Good luck!

I've got the red K&N Prefilter on mine. I believe its called the dry charger. The thing I don't like about the FIPK is the filter gets exposed to a lot of dust. I had that problem on my Jeep. I like the drycharger. Should cut down on cleaning.
