What brakes?

A buddy of mine has a 1996 K1500 Z71 and is looking to replace his rotos and pads. He is wondering what are some good performace brake parts he should use and like some recommendations.

I just got those pads put on today, and after talking to the dude at Praise Dyno, that's all he recommended rather than do the whole rotor deal too...well the dealer wanted $400 to resurface and install all 4 pads and turn all 4 rotors and afer driving for about 25 miles I cannot tell one iota of a difference with these pads...still the same mushy and awful GM brake feel compared to Ford or Dodge...Are you really that happy with the whole Pkg?

GM Truck brakes just plain SUCK. That has been the one thing that I hate about my truck since I have owned it (99 K1500 Z71). The truck has 110,000 milea on it and still has the factory brake shoes on the rear and they look great - it has had 2 sets of rotors and 4 sets of pads on the front and is needing new brakes now. I have looked into getting rear disc brakes installed as well as a hydra-boost kit but lately I am just thinking I may get rid of it and get something else. I have been a hard-core GM man all my life but am looking in other directions since the re-design of the GM trucks in 03.
