2003/4 6 disc in dash changer vs. 2001 single CD

Id like to install a factory 6 disc in dash changer from an 03 or 04 truck. I have an 01 2500HD. The radio spot seems to be the same size. I know thats only 1/2 the battle. Will it work? Wiring issues? Plug in and go?

It will not work. It fits only 03-up trucks, etc. with the serial data bus system.

Rides is right. Plus you only have 1-1/2 DIN opening. The '03/4 are 2 DIN.

so let me get this straight, you want to put a 03/04 6 disc changer in a 01 ? um yeah, that wont work unles you totaly re-wire that bad boy. Its not worth it, go out and get a 6 disc changer like one from a complete 02 denali console or something.

Thanks for the heads up on this no worky. Thats what I needed. I thought the head unit size was the same, but I recently had an 04 next to my 01, and now I can see the size difference from 1.5 din to 2 din. Thanks again.
