From all of the posts it appears the NAV unit for Full Size SUVs only has capacity for one cd/dvd. Can someone confirm that if you buy the oem head unit, and are using the NAV, then you can't play a CD unless you buy the external 6-disc changer?

Thanks-

The NAV headunit has the capacity for either the DVD navigation disc, which is required to run the system, or a cd, but not both. You would have to buy the six disc 03-up escalade/denali unit, wire it in including the serial data wire, then get your vehicle programmed to accept it. I personally have a NAV unit, with a rear seat audio setup in my 2003 Sierra Ext. cab. I have a six disc I am installing with a chopped up wiring harness next week, it is pretty easy. By the way, if you do not have a luxury style amplifier, you will be changing that out also, I did. There is alot of wiring and tapping into specific wires to get this unit going, along with a trip to the dealer. Maybe I will make up a all in one wiring chart and parts list, that includes the microphone, VSS, RSA, amplifier, six disc changer, GPS sensor, and NAV unit.

I have an Envoy with the Bose 6 disc. So looks like I would loose the changer for the NAV. I don't believe the Enoy/TB has a place for the external changer.

Ok thanks I wasn't sure... I have the Bose 6CD in dash system now in my Sierra and I'd like to add XM (probably via the Soundgate path) but would really like to do the NAV upgrade sometime down the road.
