redundant steering wheel control question

i bought a 04 tahoe in december, anyway it has everything i wanted on it except the steering wheel controls. i was wondering if it is possible to add the other steering wheel and it work. i mean does the tahoe have all that info in it that the one with steering wheel with the controls has. i think that they call it the driver information center. i am not sure, it might be cheaper to do something different.

Yes, but you'll have to have your instrument cluster replaced or flashed. You connect four momentary ON switches to the instrument cluster's wiring harness. Alternately, you can replace the steering wheel with one with the buttons, but the cluster still needs to be already set up for full function. If yours isn't now, it won't be even with the buttons. You gotta have it flashed or replaced. Go here and dig in these messages. Lots of material and reading. You gotta be patient in reading these as we gave up, restarted, gave up, restarted the project and finally, it WORKS!

do you have to get a new airbag or can you use the stock one and if so is this something that i can change myself? also what does the steering wheel cost as well as having the dash flashed or reprogrammed. sorry about all the questions, i wrote this post before i viewed the links, but thanks. keep me posted.
