tried to race a ricer

So I'm headin back from a buddies house. 11:30 pm back roads small towns. when I notice something gaining on me I'm at the speed limit or below playing with the go pedal from the stop signs. finally he catches me as the road hits 4 lane. Hmm wonder how that happens anyway the light turns green as we get to it. and this little civic buzzez around me. Fart can and all. So I jump up beside him. I drop a gear then 2 as I slow down. he wisely stays at the same speed. I tire quickly and step in it. jump from 2 lengths behind to 2 lengths ahead and back out. He stay back. Oh well I tried so i need to turn soon. As I start the turn, THEN he downshifts beside me I would have chased him down if his car hadn't actually slowed down when he down shifted and goosed it. talk about redline. Oh and the club I was carrying isn't the 03 silverado , it was my 86 Sblazer with the 350 10.5 to 1, 2.02's air gap w/650dp comp 280h cam hooker full length hedders built 700r4 3.73's 12to 1 gear box dropped 3 inches dropped shocks. hellwig front sway bar hellwig rear sway bar 95 Z28 wheels. it has been my daily driver for 2 1/2 years so I haven't been out to the drags I was afraid if it broke i would walk or wide with the wifey. funny thing is i drive the heck out of it on a daily basis It would probably think the track was a day in the park. I have been thru 2 rear ends while saving for a good one. any way i am hoping for high 12's I have embarassed a colpe of late model mustangs plus a 80 malibu wagon with a 427. (that one was close thru 1st) oh well I have rambled enough.
