Rearview camera installed

My rear view camera went in yesterday. It's mounted under the tailgate and feeds the signal to a new rearview mirror inside the cab. I'll have to get used to it but it seems to work pretty good. I guess I won't be running over any more of my cars when I back up

I didn't drive the truck much yesterday so I'm not used to it yet. It will probably be "a new toy" for a few days and then just be used when I'm backing up or if I want to see what's going on right behind me while driving. The regular part of the mirror gives me a view over the tailgate and then the camera shows everything as seen from the bumper height.

A friend of mine owns an electronics shop so he takes care of all of my automotive audio, video and tint. It doesn't look like the install was to bad (mount the camera, run the lines, connect the mirror and provide it with power). I might take the truck out tonight to see how it works when it's dark. I've seen the system that UPS uses on their trucks. My driver said that it works well for him also.

Looks pretty nice, I could not tell if the mirror still had the temp/compass as the pic was pretty dayk. I'd be interested in knowing how well it sees in the dark.

I bought mine and had it installed at Secured Sound in Westport, MA - 1-508-636-4999. Tell them I sent you  I'll have to locate the receipt so don't hold me to this price. I believe it's in the mid $300. range without the install.

The mirror doesn't have a temp/compass. The view at night is decent if you have light behind you to see (headlights, road lights ect...).

I installed something like that on my 27 foot snowmobile trailer. The camera has night vision and is hooked up to like a 7 inch lcd mounted by the dash board. I can see when I try to pass and when someone is right behind me. Helps a lot when you have about 48 feet of rig...
