Speaker replacement

I'm replacing the stereo/speakers in a 1990 regular cab sierra.

I got the stereo and the front speakers in ok but am having troubling with the rear ones. Would anyone know the RIGHT way too take off the trim as i don't want to pull on it too hard and break the plastic. After the trim is off speakers should be no problem to change.

What I found when I did mine was that once you get the screws out pulling is about the only way. EVERYTHING has to come out. Pretty much every peice of plastic from the pieces that go around the sides and roof, the long piece on the back of the cab under the rear window, the whole little bin/tool tray thet runs the width of the cab on the floor, and even the pieces at the edge of the headliner around the doors have to come off. The latter only has to come loose in order to remove the rest of the plastic. You jsut have to pull some of it with presistant gentle force. It is a real PIA but if you take it slow you should be alright. I only broke one of the little tabs that holds the long piece under the rear window to the cab.

 

Definatley not a user friendly design and it litterally took me about 5 hours just to replace to speakers.
