Hello all,

 

I stumbled onto this forum today, after receiving a set of torsion bar keys to level my 2003 Silverado 1500 4x4 extended cab.

 

This is my 2nd Silverado, my first was a 99 4x4 with the 4.8L.

 

My goal is to raise the front 2-3" and install 285X75X16 tires. does anyone know if I can use the stock wheels (are they wide enough)? Also will I have to raise the rear? and can I use stock shock lenths (in front)? I'm currently in need of shocks and tires and looking to order Rancho 9000's and mabey use Michilin x radials.

 

I also have a new unused set of 2500 leaf springs, would these fit my 1500 and would I get some or too much lift, would the ride suffer much?

In lue of the leafs I also have a new Firestone air kit for the rear.

 

I bought the leafs for my 99 with sagging rear leafs and never used them.

I use my truck as a business vehicle, with an ARE cap with the fiberglass rear door (no tail gate) aand carry aproximately 200 lbs of parts/equipment at all times, with weight of cap I'm guessing 500Lbs total?

 

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm running 285/70/17 Wrangler MTRs on my 04 Sierra EC Z71 with stock wheels and susp ride height. No probs here.

Sorry to get off topic but BOFH-Z71, do you have any pics of your sierra with the 285 MTR's on it? Thanks

 

I agree, you will be able to fit a 285/75R/16" tire on stock rims with stock height. You will deffinetly get a rougher ride with the 2500 springs but increase payload. Although I'm not sure about how much lift you would get with them. Good luck.

I'll definately install the keys, the 285's, and the Firestone air bags, and ditch the 2500 leaf idea.

 

The air bags should help prevent or lessen any future sagging issues.

 

Can I use stock shock lenths with the keys cranked 2+ inches, or do I need to go longer?
