Anyone know if the factory warranty follows the truck or does it need to be transfered to my name? What about an extended warranty? I purchased a 1 yr old truck and the orig owner had purchased the ext. warranty, can this be transfered to me?

 

The dealer said that the orig owner should contact GM and get the paper work he needs to fill out????? She didn't sound to sure of her answer, is this true?

I know a GMPP can be for like $35 or $50 (can't remember which one I read)

The original 3yr - 36,000 mile warranty follows the truck, not the owner. The extended warranty needs to be transfered, just make sure which one they purchased as there seems to be a million of them. Get a copy of the policy and it will tell you who to call and the #.

Most peole that purchase extended warranties and trade the vehicle with in a short period of time either transfer the warranty or just get a refund of the remaining coverage. Just check it out and read the fine print, especially the deductible. GMPP is the best and easiest to work with.

Are you saying you can transfer your GMPP (what is left of it) to a new GM vehicle? I knew you can transfer it to a new buyer for a fee and even cancel it and get a refund on the unused portion of it.

I will check with our F & I guy. I think it can be done at low mileages and time. I know of some that were transfered a few years ago but that may have changed.

I'd appreciate it, thanks. I just got a GMPP on mine while it was still classified as "new" and if I can transfer what is left over to another GM vehicle in a few years that would be really nice..

I talked to Blake a few times about getting one but by the time I was ready he had left. Thankfully Don was more than happy to write it up for me.

As far as transfering an existing plan to a new vehicle:

 

Is there a money-back satisfaction guarantee?

Yes. You will receive a full refund if the GM Protection Plan is canceled within 60 days and there have been no claims filed. After 60 days, the refund amount is prorated based on time and mileage remaining. (An administrative fee may apply.)

What I was thinking is that people cancel their existing policy and use the refund towards a new contract if it is past the 60 days. Hope this clears things up. Go to the GMPP website under FAQ. It should answer most of your questions.
