Rancho 9000 Shocks

I was at Checker Auto down here in AZ the other day and wanted to price some Rancho 9000 shocks for my '03 and there were none listed. Are they only for 4x4s or are they the same as the '02's? I heard they were good shocks but I may need to go with the Monroe Reflex or the Bilsteins. Any thoughts?

I had some 9000's on my old Isuzu Rodeo. It's real cool being able to adjust the firmness of your ride. I used to enjoy a firm ride so I kept the Ranchos firm(#4) with tire pressure around 35psi. Then, after a year or more, I changed my habits and deflated to 32psi and softened the shocks down to 3. Made for a more comfortable ride, and my truck didn't chatter and squeak nearly as much. I didn't feel every crack in the road afterwards.

I've stuck with stock on my newly purchased 2002 Tahoe 2x4, so I have no opinion on the larger truck.

Good luck, and let us know what you decide and the ride quality.

I wouldn't get my heart set on the Monroe Reflex's either... they are not available for '03 4X2s.

As a result, I wound up getting the Bilstein HDs. I'm not too sure I like them either. They are a little too firm for my taste, but they do improve handling.

I, too, have outgrown the firm ride ... So what are some shocks that are SOFT yet still controlled?  Or what adjustable shocks go to a really soft setting?

The Ranchos will go real soft. They have settings 1-5. 1 being real soft, 5 would rattle your teeth. There are even in cab controllers if you would like to change them often without getting out of your truck.

To adjust manually, just turn the knob at the base of each shock.

Yup, it's that easy, and you can feel the change with each setting. The actual settings are 1-9. I'm running 4 in the back and 6 in the front right now.
