High Idle/Start up

04'5.3 1500 6500 miles

Start the truck up and it goes right to 1500 RPM and then settles down.This is not good on a cold engine.How many other owners are getting this crap,and is there a fix/TSB on this.

I done a search,No luck!

my 2000 Yukon wiht 71K miles just started doing this, but it only goes to about 1000 rpm on startup. i don't know why. it never did that, even in cold weather, i don't think.

 

some people on here said it's totally normal and that their 5.3Ls do it too.

 

usually, when i put the truck in reverse, it drops down to about 500, which is normal. this morning, it dropped to like 650, which is still high.

 

i recently started making short trips cause i moved within a mile of work... i wonder if that could be a cause in my case?
