Diesel Fuel Prices

The other day when I fueled up it was $1.99 per gallon. That day it cost me $61.27 to fill it. Lastnight at the same gas station the price of diesel was up to $2.14 per gallon. I was going to go racing in NJ this November (350 miles, one way) but it looks like that won't be happening now. I'm just gonna save all my pennies so I can drive it during the winter when it goes up to $2.60 per gallon.

thats one thing i hate about diesel is the price fluctuation, ive seen it at or around 2.60 here to around 2.10 at the truckstop with atm or 2.20 with credit, i run 87 and thats usualy around 2 bucks, i saw it at 1.96 or yesterday at 2.11, but the yukon isnt my daily driver..:D

diesel here is 2.14 and 87 oct is 1.90. i know fuel prices a rediculous, but dont let it change your plans. once people stop buying big trucks and semi drivers convoy in Washington because of the fuel prices the economy will suffer and the prices will probably go back down. my only complaint is how unpredicatble fuel prices are and how much they fluctuate. thats another reason why i tell my wife its not time to sell the motorcycle, cant be 30-40mpg!

Just filled up tonight too at the cheapest station in the area.

87 octane is $1.96 and diesel is $2.19! That's a 24c premium for diesel and it'll get worse as fall goes to winter.

I've seen the it as bad as diesel costing 35c more than 87 octane in this area and that's one of the reasons I don't have any desire to own a diesel pickup.

I've owned a diesel since last September and since then it has always been cheaper than regular unleaded. What is causing it to be more expensive now?

I pay an extra 9 cents a gallon for the good stuff. Regular here is $1.96 and 93 octane is $2.05

.09 x 25 gallons = $2.25 per fill up

If I fill up every week

$2.25 X 52 weeks = $117.00 per year extra for 93 octane over regular.

Comes out to about 33 cents a day, and that is if i fill ALL the way up (and i usually dont), and thats if i fill up EVERY WEEK (which i dont).

I bought a $40,000 vehicle with a drive train that could pull a mountain around behind me if i wanted to. I dont really worry about gas prices at all or i would have bought a Ford Focus. Most of us spend more a week in snacks and coffee (or if you smoke, on cigarettes) than we do in gas. PLEASE dont take this the wrong way, i just dont understand all the fuss about gas prices. We are just lucky we are not paying the $6 or $7 a gallon they are over sea's. Now that would start to become a headache . If you think about it, inflation in gas prices has been very conservative in the past. Not nearly equaling that of say Milk, eggs, and bread.

one thing that gets me here....isn't unleaded gas diesel that has been refined more? or is there a whole differnt method?

It's odd to thinks that unleaded gas, that is more pure, can cost less than diesel...

I believe its do to the fact that alot of what would be diesel is being made into Heating Oil - thats why the price of diesel jumps up every fall --- but don't take this as gospel.

Diesel fuel is "cleaner" then standard heating oil. A few years ago we had a ton of snow and they couldn't get the heating oil truck to the house for about a month, so I put Deisel fuel in the heating oil tank. But don't put heatin oil in your trucks.
