5.3 swap to a 6.0

I have a 99 4x4 Chevy extended cab with the 5.3 in it. I pull a toyhauler wighing about 8000 lbs fully loaded. I have regeared my truck and now have 456 gears in it but its still a dog when towing up steep hills. I have an 8 inch lift and Im running 35 inch tires as wells which obviously doesn't help my towing at all. I have heard the 6.0 has a lot more torch and is a great motor for towing. I was wondering what it woudl take to to a swap from my 5.3 to a 6.0. Would I have to change to computer and what elese would be intailed in the swap? Is this even feasable? Any info would help..Thanks.

Very easy swap, direct bolt in. Have a custom tune done in the computer, otherwise plug and play. Why not try a custom tune first?

Can you explain the custom tune to me first? This is wha i have done to my truck. Regeared to 456's, running a 2 chamber flowmaster exhaust, Airaid filter system, and Hypertech poower programmer. Im not the brightest guy in the garage so can you explain what you getting at with the custon tuning? Thanks I appreciate all the help I can get.

Your gonna want somebody to tune your old PCM to accomodate the 6.0 and whatever bolt ons you have. You will beneift more from the 6.0 swap that way. You may as well put some ARP rod studs, a cam and such in while you have the 6.0 on a stand!! I opted for the TR224.
