Need new truck advice

Hi all!  I'm a newbie with a few questions.  I'm looking at purchasing a new 4x4 here shortly and I'm looking for advice on the 1500 series.

What are some "Must Haves", "Shoulda Got" items as well as items to stay away from?

My #1 requirememnt for a new vehicle is quality.  Can't drive it if it's in the shop all the time.  Realizing that every mfg has good & bad, what are some Quality issues on the 1500s?

With the recent incentatives GM is offering what are people paying?  Invoice, below invoice AND the 0% financing?

This forum really is a great resource!  THanks in advance for your help!:)

Well, I bought my truck pretty much bone stock, I figure anything that I want I can always add which I've been doing.  Mine was the basic 4x4 and I created it into a Z-71 for about half the price.  If you want to spend the time to do it yourself it will be cheaper to add on what you want, but if you want something that's already set up go with and LS.  As for must have's after you buy it, it depends on what you're going to use the truck for, but I suggest a flowmaster cat back exhaust and a cold air intake.  Welcome to the forum

autotrac is an awesome feature (push button 4wd)

Things i would get again

locker, fender flares, tow pkg, 5.3 (like a bigger one but in 1500 thats the largest)

Things i would change about mine

color (probably go silver less scratches)

buy cheapest tires then switch out.  Not buy the most expensive ($365 option) then spend $800 on new ones

Get the 5.3l

Take a close look at optioning out the truck. I originally spec'd out a 2001 Sierra LS and added a bunch of options. It was cheaper to get the SLE and it came with a few more toys.

Like Ryan said, if you're planning to swap out the tires/wheels, get the base and upgrade later, great advice.

Do your homework.
