Transmission Groan

I love my D/A combo. I havent had any problems so far. The only concern I have is a slight groan from the tranny. I am aware of the "Allison Whine". After a long highway trip it seems to be louder when I slow down and start to city drive again. After it sets and cools down again is is normal though. Is this just from the tranny reaching a little higher temp or should I take it in to the shop. As I said before, it operates the same, except for the noise.

I have the 8.1/Allison, so I hear the "Allison whine" more than you do with your DuraMax. I really like the way the tranny sounds and performs. Haven't experienced the louder groan you are talking about, but my truck has only ~6,500 miles on it.

I'd take to the dealership just to be sure. Did you change the tranny filter at first service int. as the book says? I took mine in at 6k and asked to have the Allison serviced and the tech looked at me like I was crazy. I got out my manual and he said "okay, will do."

Do you know the TSB number on it? I have not seen nor heard of this recall before.

you need to go to the dealer and give them your vin# and it will tell them if your truck has the recall its an updated pump assy

They were confused. I probably need a TSB.
